Track Season is HERE! Jasper is back with a D.O.G.S. special!

FACT: Since 1998 GFR has carried more Track and Field Footwear than any other store in Oregon. Student-athletes, post-collegians and masters runners, start your shopping here. Specialty event shoes fit differently. You cannot try on a shoe when you shop online. Coaches, trainers, and experienced competitors trust the staff at GFR for the right advice, the right fit, and the best selection in Oregon. Coaches, trainers, and all student-athletes receive 10% off the regular price on their shoe purchases all year, every year.

  • Browse the extensive line of track and field shoes we carry

  • Browse the best selection of training shoes in the state

Look for marked down prices on last year's models. The prices are great, but the selection is limited!

Hi! I'm Jasper! As Director of Grand Sales [D.O.G.S.] I put my dog brain to work to make this the best Track and Field season ever. I thought, hey, I have four legs. If I had to buy shoes for the upcoming track season I would need two pairs, right? Any track and field athlete knows you need a good training shoe and that special event shoe to stay competitive and perform your best. Students and coaches always get 10% off regularly priced shoes at Gallagher's. I convinced the GFR staff to offer an additional 10% on that second pair. So here is the March Jasper Special:

Purchase a pair of training shoes AND a pair of track spikes or field event shoes. Get 10% off the first pair and 20% off the second pair. Mention the Jasper Special and the discount is yours! Note: the greater discount will apply to the lower priced pair.

THREE PARKS, TWO BRIDGES, ONE COMMUNITY

We feel there is a real sense of "Community" in Salem and our philosphy is to remain highly involved. We care about our downtown neighborhood. We support local student athletes and offer adult walking and running clinics. We receive frequent referrals from the medical and the recreationally active communities and provide a valuable service by assisting patients, clients and members with comfortable walking and running shoes. Our experienced staff offers sound advice to people who spend time on their feet or have goals to spend more time on their feet! True to our motto over the last eleven years, we are "Bringing Willamette Valley to Its Feet!"

In addition to our regular retail jobs, we volunteer on committees created to improve and enhance our local community. We invite our customers, friends and community members to be informed of what's happening and get involved.

Gallagher Fitness Resources has been intimately involved in the Union Street Railroad Bridge Conversion Project that will safely and aesthetically connect Riverfront Park to Wallace Marine Park. We are also in support of the proposed Minto Island Bridge for bicycle and pedestrian use. We fully acknowledge and are aware of the concerns of those not necessarily in favor of the project. For the last six years we have been actively involved with this bridge project and remain hopeful that it will come to fruition. Our goal and our passion is to increase awareness and support toward the construction of the bridge and the connecting pathways into Minto as soon as possible.

In the spirit of health, well-being and community livability, it is truly in the best interest of all park users to commute and recreate safely between the parks. Community support and momentum is better than ever and we extend our invitation to all to continue and strengthen the support for this important project.

We invite you to join us. Here are a couple simple ways to get informed and become involved. Be aware that the Salem City Council will make a decision about designs in March, 2009. Your input is important and will be influential. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this council meeting.

  • 1. Fill out the City of Salem survey and provide feedback on the Minto Island Bridge design. The Salem City Council is accepting feedback on the Minto Island Bridge design until March 16th. Click here for Minto Island Bridge Survey
or paste the following link in your browser: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=23h8j_2byyi1IpYnky0KqG4g_3d_3d

  • 2. Read the March 2009 update on our website: Three Parks, Two Bridges, One Community

  • 3. Plan to attend the GRAND OPENING of the Union Street Railroad Bridge on Saturday April 18, 2009.

For more information: Friends of Two Bridges is a grassroots citizen group focused on the design, construction, and opening of the Union Street bridge, Minto Island bridge, and connecting pathways to bicyclists and pedestrians. A variety of interests are represented in this group, including the recreational community, historic preservationists, area children's advocates, downtown merchants, property owners, and statewide cycling interests. The Friends of Two Bridges meets monthly. Contact Hazel Patton at 503.581.4939 or email her at Ptn1363@msn.com for more information. Trigger Point Classes Resume in April

Trigger Point Technologies - TP Therapy Tools

Upcoming Trigger Point Classes at GFR

In the Trigger Point class, you get educated through a better appreciation of which muscles are tight and how to release them for better performance. We address common running conditions like IT Band Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis, Shin Splints, Piriformis Syndrome and more. We provide a way for you to take care of yourself by creating elasticity in the muscles and treating the cause of a problem, rather than just the symptoms. You'll perform at a higher level and minimize the aches and pains and conditions that steer you off the path toward your goals. TP Therapy Link

    Questions: 503-364-4198 or email Susan@ActiveSalem.com

John and Susan believe you can accomplish things you never thought possible. When training for distance events, we guide you toward your goals, but you do the work. From time to time, aches and pains occur and whether you're a beginner or a veteran it's not always easy to know when to push through the discomfort and when to back off. Each time you return from a set-back, whether short-term or extended, you learn something new and gain more knowledge in how to deal with it the next time around. We believe this learning process, this "runner's education" is vital to personal improvement.

Cheers from all of us at GFR. The best investment you can make in 2009 is an investment in your health! So get aerobic and feel good!

As always - Stay tuned to www.ActiveSalem.com for updates!
